Integrity Management
McChord Pipeline Co. has implemented an Integrity Management Program to ensure safe pipeline operation in accordance with Federal Regulations. An internal inspection tool (also known as a smart pig) is used to inspect the pipeline. Based on the results, the pipeline can operate safely until the next internal inspection. The maximum inspection interval is 5 years. The pipeline is internally inspected every five years, most recently in 2024 as part of the ongoing Integrity Management process.
The pipeline was pressure tested in 1996 to verify its strength. Due to the low stresses on the pipeline, another pressure test is not required for decades.
